Nick’s academic interests focus on marine biogeochemistry and the global cycles that shape oceanic systems, however, he is broadly driven by a desire to expand our global understanding of the ocean. As part of the inaugural Stravitz Scholar cohort, Nick will help chart the path for future students.


Project: Heavy Metals in the Amazon Mudbank Dispersal Pathway

Nick is studying heavy (Cr, Cd, Pb) and trace (Al, Fe, Ti, Mn, Ba, V, Zn, Ni, Cu, Ga, Co) metals along pronounced environmental gradients associated with the dynamic mobile-mud dispersion pathway between Óbidos and Suriname, including the Amazon estuary.
